OUR PURPOSE
The Torbay Hospital League of Friends was
set up in 1954 to provide amenities and services for . Over the years
it has become one of the leading Leagues in the country providing many
gifts - large and small - amounting to millions of pounds.
As well as its fund raising activities
the League also provides;
-
canteen facilities in the Outpatients department
and other waiting areas throughout the hospital
-
a Linen League where volunteers meet weekly
to make special articles for wards and departments
-
portable telephones for all wards throughout
the hospital, and
-
voluntary guides for patients visiting the
various clinics
The League is able to enhance what the Trust
provides and buy 'extras' that can bring the most advanced methods of treatment
to benefit local people and visitors. Its members benefit the Hospital
by;

supporting it's work
-
recruiting volunteers
-
maintaining a relationship with the volunteers
-
creating a link between the Hospital and the
community it serves, and
-
the provision of funds to supplement its resources
The latest appeals have included

Caring for Children that has raised
£1m for the development of the children's wards.
